Brent H Egan, FNP, received his Bachelor of Nursing and Registered Nursing degree from Weber State University in 1990. He received his Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Utah in 2001. He subsequently became board certified in Family Nurse Practitioner medicine that same year. He was involved in research at the University of Utah during the time of his residency program completing research in pediatric asthmas suggesting protocols for managing difficult pediatric asthmas. After his work at the University he began to work in Urology at Central Utah Clinic. He enjoyed a career in Urology at that institution for 13 years working in clinical outpatient, inpatient, and surgical urology. After 13 years of practice he accepted a position at the University of Washington affiliate Valley Medical Center in Renton Washington. He had special training in Robotic surgery while at the UW Medicine position. He eventually accepted a position with Tenet Healthcare in Modesto, California and practiced there until June 2015. During his time with Tenet he had a busy practice along with hospital and inpatient medicine as well. During his practice in urology he received special training in Interstim Percutaneous placement from the Medtronics company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After several years in urology he decided to return to his roots in Utah taking a position with the Utah Pain Relief Institute in Murray Utah. During his time with UPRI he was able to use his prior orthopedic experience to care for patients suffering with spinal and neurological pain along with numerous other pain syndromes. He practiced with UPRI until recently starting his own practice in pain medicine with Dr. Gary Child at Alpine Pain and Rehab Solutions of Utah. Mr. Egan has been active as an instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support training and as an adjunct instructor at Dixie State University nursing department. He enjoys hiking, biking, tennis and golf to name a few of his interests. He has been active in sports and outdoor activities his entire life. Mr. Egan is passionate regarding the proper treatment of the chronic pain patient. He believes that chronic pain patients deserve a multifactorial approach including physical therapy, spinal procedures and injection, Radio Frequency Ablation, joint injections, psychiatric evaluation and counseling, needling and acupuncture just to name a few. He has also received special education and certifications regarding neurological pain including small muscle fiber neuropathy and conditions such as fibromyalgia and compartment syndrome.
